Shipping & US Tariff Guide (2026 Update)

Recent changes in US trade policy have significant impacts on the landed cost of CNC machined parts imported from China.

Policy Alert

1. US De Minimis Exemption (Section 321)

Important: Effective May 2025 (China/HK) and globally by August 2025, the $800 de minimis exemption has been removed. Every shipment, regardless of value, is now subject to formal customs entry and full duties.

2. Section 301 Surcharges

Most CNC machined components imported from China fall under HS Code 8466 (Parts for Machine Tools) or 8487 (Machinery parts not elsewhere specified). These items typically carry a Section 301 surcharge (often 25%) in addition to the base MFN duty rate.

3. HS Code Planning

Correct classification is critical for compliance and accurate landed-cost calculations. Common HS codes for our parts include:

  • 8466.93 - Parts for machine tools (milling/turning)
  • 8483.10 - Transmission shafts and cranks
  • 8487.90 - Miscellaneous machinery parts
Note: Alloyer provides a standard commercial invoice. We recommend all US customers consult a licensed customs broker to confirm their specific duty liabilities.
